When I was a teenager, I watched the television show, "Murder She Wrote" with my grandmother. It became a ritual watching the show with her and following the adventures of author and sleuth, Jessica Fletcher portrayed by actress, Angela Lansbury. To be honest, it was Angela who first inspired me to become an author, ALL those years ago. In high school, I wrote for the school paper and when I graduated, I began to write in a daily journal. I have kept that journal writing practice to this day, some 25+ years later. After publishing a newsletter and magazine in the 1990s, I finally got around to publishing my first book in 2011.
I have always loved the show, "Murder She Wrote" and in the last few years decided to purchase the DVDs of the first season. I've watched the Pilot episode numerous times, but didn't realize the significance of that episode in my own life. My dream was to become Jessica Fletcher - to live in a small seaside community, ride my bicycle everywhere and know everyone in town. In 2011 I fulfilled that dream. I lived in the bayside village of Sausalito, California, rode my bicycle everywhere, knew practically everyone in town and had my book on the shelves of bookshops.
In 2013 I released my 5th book, It's Simply Serendipity: Four Steps to Manifesting a Life of Bliss, my personal story of transformation. Last year after the book came out, I was watching the Pilot episode of "Murder She Wrote" and noticed something that caused me to laugh out loud. The name of the theatre Jessica visits to question one of the suspects in her murder plot just happened to be named - The Serendipity Theatre. How's that for...well, 'Serendipity'?
One of my dreams is to actually MEET Angela Lansbury and to thank her personally for being an inspiration to one of my biggest dreams, becoming a published author.
Thanks Jess!
